New York Yankees’ batting lineup has severely underperformed in recent weeks. Several players have failed to meet expectations as bad results pile up. A flop veteran for the Bronx Bombers most recently threw shade at the MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred while vying for a new rule. This comes in the wake of a notable achievement for the team.
The Yankees have slid into the standings with Aaron Judge on the injured list. Furthermore, their batting slump as a team has seen them join hands with the falling Oakland Athletics. But along with their latest victory, one of their underperforming veterans has taken a jibe at the MLB Commissioner for his rule changes.

With their batting form as bad as it is now, the Yankees need all the help they can get. Most recently, veteran flop, Josh Donaldson, asked for a home run rule change while seemingly taking a jab at the excess rule changes this year. According to a Tweet by Talkin’ Yanks, Donaldson said, “Maybe Rob [Manfred], making all these other new rules, will make that count.”
Donaldson said Giancarlo Stanton’s recent 447-foot solo home run should have counted for two runs. The 37-year-old veteran flop also mentioned that he might get it done with all the new rules that MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is enacting.

This is a truly ambitious ask from Donaldson, even as Manfred is making changes to improve the game. Furthermore, it does not seem likely to be added to the game anytime soon.
On a pleasant note, Stanton smashed this big hit while helping the Yankees pick up a much-needed 6-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. Hopefully, the team can continue this momentum and pick up some consistent wins. However, fans are pretty not impressed about the flop veteran’s new home run rule.
Fans are underwhelmed
It is unsurprising to see fans disagree with what Josh Donaldson has said because he has been in poor form. Some fans called him out for his new home run rule idea and throwing shade.
Maybe Josh would actually be good if homers counted as two runs

Dude is hitting .146 and throwing shade

I really couldn't care less what .146 Josh Donaldson thinks. I wish he was a former Yankees player… https://t.co/Lie0OIJ90m

While other fans criticized his play.
Maybe you’ll bat over .200 this year 🤔

Maybe they should change batting average when hitting homers. Josh may actually hit above .150 then.
