Derek Jeter was not welcomed in the streets of Boston
Although the Yankees and Red Sox have been arch-rivals for over a hundred years, it was even more intense when Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez played for the Yankees during the early 2000s. Because both the Yankees and Red Sox were at their peak.
And when Michael Kay asked, the former Yankees captain said the same. Jeter also credited the fans for making the atmosphere intense in the ballparks.
?I don’t think the rivalry has (never) ever been as intense as it was when we were playing. I mean, you had guys that hated each other… Jorge (Posada), Pedro (Martinez), Alex, Jason (Varitek)…?
?Nothing to hate each other now?,? Derek Jeter said. ?I mean, you had everything. And it was the fans make the atmosphere. So, I loved playing against Boston, and then playing against Boston in the ALCS a couple of times does not get any bigger.?
