While the New York Yankees are showcasing their dominance this season, steamrolling the opponents along the way, their offense deserves the maximum credit. Led by Aaron Judge‘s towering homers, balls are flying all over the park. However, among these highlighted areas, the Yankees’ flamboyance just got a notch above with Jazz Chisholm Jr. The second baseman for the Yankees has been a sensation in baseball thus far this season. It’s not for the striking jewelry or personalized cleats and gloves he wears each time he steps onto the field, but for his hitting. His hot form this season got further hyped with the prediction of his 2025 All-Star inclusion. Is he truly deserving of the same?

Well, Chisholm already amassed 4 homers and 8 RBIs over the first six games this season. Second only to the Yankees veteran Judge. His batting average is also on the upward side, with a .292 this season compared to a .256 last year. That’s not all, Chisholm demonstrates a broad range of abilities that enhance every facet of the game. He provides the Yankees with offensive firepower and explosive playmaking, as demonstrated by his 40 stolen bases last year. His strong play has also given vital balance to an offensive lineup that was lacking important players because of injuries, confirming his status as a dependable asset who guards the team’s key players. Enough value was created to find a place in the All-Star game.

With a 130 OPS+, 11 home runs, and 18 steals in 46 games after he was traded to the Yankees last summer, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has 30/30 potential over a full season playing his home games in Yankee Stadium,” Bleacher Report boldly projected.

Following his early-season success, there’s no other more deserving from the Bronx camp than Chisholm to be a serious contender for a starting spot on the All-Star team. His ability to consistently drive in runs makes him one of the team’s most crucial players. If he maintains his health and steady output, a return to the All-Star stage seems highly likely—a significant milestone in an already remarkable career.

While the All-Star game is still months away, Chisholm’s numbers are only going to get better. While his skills are undeniable, his association with the torpedo bats could further elevate his performance. Although players like Anthony Volpe and Cody Bellinger also use torpedo bats, Chisholm has taken hitting to another level.

The poster boy of the torpedo bats

The Yankees’ desperation to go big this year is demonstrated by their introduction of the torpedo bat. Its design may seem odd at first, but it’s specially made for additional mass in the middle of the barrel. However, the idea is to use better swing mechanics and contact efficiency. This creative design is paying off on the field. As its giving Chisholm a consistent edge at the bat, according to early series results. Chisholm put on an impressive display in an early-season series, recording five hits in just twelve at-bats, including three home runs and six RBIs. Though it was the second baseman doing the magic, some credit surely goes to the torpedo bats.

Chisholm’s bling and flamboyance, combined with torpedo bats, make a deadly combination. “I hit the ball at the barrel, feel comfortable in the box…I don’t know what else to tell you. I don’t know the science of it, I’m just playing baseball,” he said. Chisholm seems perfectly fine with the new bats, and his towering homers this season are proof of their effectiveness.

However, the regular season is only one week old, and it is still a limited sample size to draw conclusions about Chisholm. The Yankees will hope that their ongoing form continues as they attempt to build upon last season’s journey to the World Series. The Yankees have yet to play outside Yankee Stadium this season, which is traditionally batter-friendly. So, Chisholm is yet to be fully tested.

The Yankees seem well on their way to going big this year. The inclusion of Chisholm in the All-Star lineup will be the next big thing for the team.
