As a young bullpen arm, Garcia signed with the Astros at the young age of 16 in 2016. With that, he embarked on a seven-year journey through the minor leagues. Impressing scouts with his potential, he worked all the way up from the Dominican Summer League to Single-A ball. His teammates remembered him fondly, and one of Garcia’s former affiliates recalled, saying, he was “always carrying a smile around the ballpark.”

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers shared a message, “We are saddened to learn of the passing of Ronny García. Ronny spent parts of three seasons with Fayetteville, always carrying a smile around the ballpark. He was a talented pitcher and a beloved teammate. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.” This only proves how impactful his presence was.

His statistics had been consistently impressive as well. In over 122 games, he compiled a 3.42 ERA and struck out 200 batters. Back in 2022, he came into his own, allowing just a single run in over 18 innings pitched. It is these plays that caught the eye of the York Revolution – an independent league team, who signed him in February 2024. In fact, Revolution manager Rick Forney viewed Garcia as “a young bullpen arm” who had the ability to become a key contributor.
