Things went wild in MLB when the home plate umpire ejected two managers in the same game on Monday. Notably, Terry Francona and the LA Angels skipper Phil Nevin faced ejection from the game during the ongoing three-game series.

Although the Guardians won the game in a close encounter against the Angels, the bizarre ejections were the highlight of the game. Since the Guardians have a very good chance to play the postseason games, and the Angels do not, the Terry Francona-led team has been playing some good baseball lately.

Apart from the controversial ejections, another bizarre incident took place when the home plate umpire did not allow the Angels’ pitcher to throw some warm-up pitches. Instead, he yelled. Renowned MLB analyst Ben Verlander slammed the home plate umpire for the harsh call against the Angels pitcher.

Terry Francona and Phil Nevin’s ejections were not enough for the home plate umpire

During the seventh inning in the first game, Terry Francona argued with the home plate umpire Ron Kulpa after Andrew Gimenez suffered a hit-by-pitch from the Nagels pitcher. And since Francona signaled for a replay, the umpire allegedly ignored his call. This whole incident led to the ejections of the Guardians and Angels’ managers.

But Ron Kulpa was far from being done. When the Angels pitcher Ryan Tepera was throwing some warm-up pitches, Kulpa yelled at him. And when Tepera asked the reason, he simply said, “because I said so.”

Verlander called it unacceptable. “This is ridiculous. Bad calls happen, but stuff like this is unacceptable,” Ben Verlander tweeted.

“After a long break due to the umpire throwing out Francona, he REFUSED to let Ryan Tepera throw some warm-up pitches when he felt he needed to. Yelling “Because I said so!” when asked why he couldn’t.”

In the end, the guardians won the game 5-4 against the Angels. And their quest to play the postseason games is still alive. Even the Terry Francona-led team won the second game on Tuesday and won the series against the Angels.
