The Juan Soto chase in the off-season has been quite a ball until now. But according to sources, it could all come to an end soon; Soto apparently will choose where he heads to for possibly the next ten to eleven years within the next ten days, as per MLB Network’s Jon Morosi. So, that would put the timeline in between next week’s winter meetings.
Baseball Winter Meetings will begin on Dec 9 in Dallas and get over by Dec 11. The entire baseball industry is going to be in one place. The big question—will Soto sign a deal then? Will it be the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, or the Toronto Blue Jays? Well, as the days are coming to a close, everyone is nervous, including insider Trevor Plouffe. And he is fearing the worst—the coming of the Curse of Bambino, except in reverse!

Is the Bambino curse making a comeback with Juan Soto?
Juan Soto is the New York Yankees’ priority, and the Red Sox are the Yankees’ biggest rival. If Soto leaves for Boston, it’s going to be a huge sting. However, according to Trevor Plouffe, it could mirror the infamous ‘Curse of the Bambino’, but in reverse. If you are not familiar with the infamous Bambino curse, it stemmed from Babe Ruth’s departure from the Red Sox to the Yankees. After he left, the Red Sox fell into an 86-year-old World Series drought.

So Plouffe by reverse means, what if it’s Juan Soto in place of Babe Ruth now? This could lead to years of heartbreak for the New York Yankees, possibly if Soto joins the Red Sox. But that’s not even the wildest part; Soto’s childhood nickname was actually “Childish Bambino.” To which Plouffe mentioned, “That sounds like a story.” Right now, the name and the parallel between Soto, Babe Ruth, and the two teams almost add a layer of poetic justice to this theory. But well, only time will tell where he ends up, although, news is coming in that the process of elimination has started.
Juan Soto has started eliminating teams!
Juan Soto, until now, has met the top contenders like the New York Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Red Sox, and Blue Jays. But according to Scott Boras, the entire process is in full swing, and Soto has already begun eliminating teams. Boras mentions that Soto is doing it all methodically. “He’s begun the process of eliminating teams and doing things. Juan is a very methodical thinker, so we’ll see, but I don’t think anything is imminent in the near future,” said Scott Boras—seems like Soto can definitely get his decision sorted by next week.

One of the major players has come to be the Boston Red Sox, who allegedly offered a $625 million, 13-year deal to Soto, as per Hector Gomez of Z101 Digital. However, we can’t discount the New York Yankees and the New York Mets as of yet. Plus, the Yankees also have upped the offer, so the completion is on par—they seem to be on the ‘serious contender’ list as of now. But Randy Miller does report that the Yankees are concerned with the Red Sox’s offer.
The Red Sox offering this huge deal could be a game-changer. Do you think Plouffe’s will nightmares come alive? Let us know your thoughts below.
