After coming out of an immensely successful season, the ongoing MLB season has not been kind to Aaron Judge. The reigning AL MVP has hit only 6 home runs this season till now. While the same Judge had belted almost a dozen home runs around this time of the season last year.  Considering his towering record in the last season, Judge’s current form is undoubtedly a big concern, especially for the Pinstripes fans.

However, unlike the millions of fans, the Yankees captain does not seem worried about his form at all. And given the season is still young, Judge still has enough time to prove his worth. Talking about the same, the Yankees captain opened up about why a comparison to his last season’s stat is a “waste of time.”

Ups and downs are a constant part of an athlete’s life. After all, they’re only human; and there’s no one who better understands that fact than Aaron Judge. Discussing his numbers and how they affect him each year, Judge said, “If I waste time comparing my stats to last year, I’d be spinning myself in circles. Each year is so different. Sometimes you have a hot start and cool off in the middle,” he told Dan Martin of The New York Post.

Notably, every year is not the same year and who better than Judge to understand this? He continued, “Other years, you start slow and you deal with that. Your numbers are gonna be whatever they are at the end of the year.”

Will Judge be able to help the Yankees secure their postseason berth this year?

Even if Aaron Judge goes on to hit 50+ home runs this year, relying on an individual will not do any good for the Aaron Boone-led Yanks. Because, the last year, Judge belted 62 homers, and it was not enough for the Pinstripes to win a silverware. And considering the current dominance of the Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, and even the Orioles in the AL East, the Yankees are on the back foot right now, as far as their postseason berth is concerned.

Another big factor behind the Yankees’ poor run in this season is their endless injuries. Be it Giancarlo Stanton, Carlos Rodon, or even the captain himself, these marquees are yet to play a match together. Only time will tell the fate of the Yankees this season.
