The Red Sox just can’t catch a break, can they? As if their offseason wasn’t shaky enough! Now, their $140 million investment just sent a collective shiver down Boston’s spine. A routine spring training day turned into a nightmare, raising serious questions about the team’s depth—and, let’s be honest, their luck. Buckle up, Sox fans.

After the Yankees faced their injury crisis, the Red Sox was thought to be the best team in the AL right now. But after this news, those opinions might change again. Reports are coming that Trevor Story could be injured.

Chris Cotillo posted on his X handle: “Trevor Story was scratched from today’s lineup for precautionary reasons due to mild upper back tightness.” If Story is really injured, the Red Sox does not have a backup that can provide the output he could.

Now, nobody knows if this injury is serious or just precautionary. However, when a player is pulled from the lineup, it’s usually a bad sign. But this is not the first injury, that will cost Story his season.

Trevor Story has been an integral part of the Red Sox setup. He impressed most fans in his first year with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs in 97 games. He could not play all the games due to some injuries that continued in the 2023 season when he again missed most games because of an elbow injury.

The same happened in 2024 when he played only 26 games. The team sidelined him for shoulder surgery in April.

Of course, these injuries raised some doubts about his contract. But this spring training has been a different story.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Trevor Story's back issue a minor hiccup or a sign of bigger problems for Boston?

Have an interesting take?

In the 2025 spring training games, Story has gone 10 for 21 with an average of .458 and has already hit 2 home runs. Although it is early, this looks like a good start. But will he be able to continue this form – that is a question for a different time.

If scratching him from the lineup was just a precaution, the Red Sox can breathe easy—for now. But if it’s something more, their infield stability might be as shaky as their postseason hopes.

Either way, Boston just got a harsh reminder: fate doesn’t care about preseason optimism.

But everything apart, his influence on the team dynamics cannot be denied, can you?

Trevor Story opens up about his friendship with a Red Sox teammate

In an era where MLB friendships are often as fleeting as a one-year contract, Trevor Story and Alex Bregman have built something more lasting. Long before they shared a Red Sox clubhouse, they were already exchanging baseball wisdom—and maybe a few recruitment pitches. Now, with the roles reversed, Story is finally getting the last laugh.

This friendship has been there for many years. One of the main reasons Bregman ended up with the Red Sox might also be this. Story said, “I didn’t live in his house, but I stayed there for about a week back in my free agency. He was kind of recruiting me to come to Houston, and now we’ve flipped the script, and I was recruiting him a little bit.”

While Story was in free agency, Bregman was trying to recruit him to the Astros but now Story has recruited Bregman to the Red Sox. Trevor Story wanted Breggy mainly because of his knowledge of the game and knew his experience would come into play.

Now that the roles have flipped, Story finally gets to enjoy the satisfaction of a successful recruitment. But beyond that, Boston just gained a baseball mind that never stops working. If Bregman brings half as much insight as his intensity, the Red Sox didn’t just get a third baseman—they got a walking, talking playbook.
