Chaos, controversy, and a clubhouse storm brewing in Boston—just another day in Red Sox Nation. The team’s latest shake-up has fans sharpening their pitchforks and at the center of the firestorm – Rafael Devers. Once the franchise cornerstone, now the subject of fierce debate, his latest stance has Boston Red Sox loyalists questioning everything.
Betrayal? Ego? Or just usual business?
It was only yesterday that we heard the news of Devers being okay with playing DH. The Red Sox fans thought they had put the 3rd base drama behind them and confirmed the positions. But now, the tables have turned again. It looks like Rafael Devers can not be convinced easily.

Tyler Milliken reported through his X handle that Rafael Devers is still not happy with the Red Sox front office. He also said that according to Sean McAdam, the situation got so bad that Rafael Devers was about to request a trade. But all this news cooled down after a discussion with the front office.
Rafael Devers was angry enough about his situation this spring that he considered asking for a trade, per @Sean_McAdam.

Now, the question was what were the discussions between the front office and Devers? Nobody knows the answer to that question. When Devers was asked, he replied, “I’ve had private conversations with the team. I’m going to keep those private.” He says he is not frustrated, but the fans see it on his face. Now, with the news of this “trade ask” coming out, the fans have stopped at nothing to make their feelings known.
And just like that, the Devers drama has reached new heights. A trade request that almost happened, “private conversations” that remain a mystery, and a fan base that’s had enough—it’s all the makings of a Boston blockbuster. The only question now is: Is this saga nearing its climax or just getting started?
What’s your perspective on:
Is the Red Sox's handling of Devers a masterclass in negotiation or a colossal misstep?

Red Sox fans go off on Rafael Devers after news of “Trade Ask”
Red Sox Nation has never been known for its patience, and today is no exception. The latest bombshell involving Rafael Devers has fans foaming at the mouth, unleashing a firestorm hotter than a Fenway Frank in July. Loyalty? Betrayal? Is a franchise unraveling? Whatever this is, it’s pure, unfiltered Boston chaos at its finest.
Fatso should’ve taken his anger out on the treadmill

Rafael Devers is known for being out of shape for most of his career, at least before the season starts. But when a player like that starts to demand things, especially when things are not given to him, people will point it out. A fan called out Devers for being out of shape. They urged him to channel his frustration into getting fit and winning games.
I can’t stand him

The important thing for players is fans – that is what influences the front office to decide to have him on the team or not. With Devers acting like this and news about him asking for a trade, he has started to lose that base. And if this continues, there is a big chance of seeing him in different colors.
Trade him then – selfish players aren’t needed
— J_Straz_5681 (@Knight_Bombers) March 14, 2025
The chemistry of the players is the most essential thing when they assemble a team. They need players who put the team first and that is not the case with Rafael Devers. With him asking for everything at 3rd base and not making a place for Alex Bregman, fans are finding him selfish and they don’t want this in their team. But will this result in the thing he asked for – a trade?
He seriously needs to grow up!
Needs to watch Story, Bregman ,etc and be more example for younger players.
Definition of very selfish and inward looking player.
He’s going to DH, he’s going to play 3rd… he’s needs to play more games— Eric J Hansen (@hanse16488) March 14, 2025
Fans are saying that Devers needs to grow up and take examples of other players who have adjusted whenever the team requires them to. As per them, he is only looking out for himself and not for the team. He is going to get to play 3rd base at some point, but he still needs to get more games under his belt and has to make sure to lower the errors.

Which shows how delusional he is. Hardly anyone can afford a $32M/year, for 10 years, error prone 3rd baseman. He is probably basically untradeable, at least for any kind of equitable return. He’s a DH. Period.

Rafael Devers signed a $313.5 million contract with the Red Sox, and now he wants the 3rd base too? Even if he wants a trade, fans think that there is no way anybody is giving a player $32 million per year who makes 14 errors in a single season. For them, he is untradable and till he improves his defense, he is going to be a DH only.
