Having won almost everything as a baseball player, Jeter became a household name in the United States of America. Be it as a player or as the captain of the New York Yankees, Jeter won it all, including winning the World Series five times.

However, there is one thing that the former Yankees captain was able to do it only once during his storied career. Yes! The first grand slam holds a special place for any player, and the legend Derek Jeter is no exception. It was a special moment for him when he parried the ball away to claim his first-ever grand slam in his decade-old career. Having made his debut in 1995, he finally had one a decade later. It was a big occasion, given that the Cubs visited the Yankees after decades. The last time the Yankees hosted the Cubs in the same stadium was way back in 1938.

The Yankees were in total control of the game against the Cubs from the first inning. But their win got confirmed in the sixth innings when Jeter unleashed his force, sending the ball over 380 feet. The game ultimately ended 8-1. Jeter’s grand slam not only gave the Yankees a win but broke his doubt of never hitting one. It was a relief for Jeter, who embarked, “I thought I’d never hit one.”
