Dodgers fans, take a deep breath; it’s happening! Mookie Betts, the All-Star shortstop’s biggest rival for the past few weeks, hasn’t been an opposing team—it’s been a lingering stomach bug that refuses to back down. The brutal illness left him unable to keep food down, weakened him, and made him lose over 18 pounds in just 14 days. He even had to take a step back from the team’s season-opening series in Japan. But now we can breathe relief as Betts is finally turning a corner.

Here comes an update straight from Brianna Betts herself. She took it to Instagram to thank fans for their support while sharing that Mookie Betts is doing much better. She stated, “Markus is doing well and ready to get back!” Of course, he’s coming back stronger.

With the season about to kick off, having Betts back in his form is exactly what the Dodgers needed.

Betts has been making significant progress. He managed to get through a full workout at Dodger Stadium recently. Manager Dave Roberts mentioned that Mookie was able to hit, take grounders, throw, and most notably, he could finally eat solid food. But his health is still delicate, so there is no room for mistakes. After all, Betts dropped from 175 to 157 pounds. The Dodgers are rightfully taking things one day at a time.

Yes, we all were patiently waiting for the good news, and this is it. While missing the Japan games wasn’t on his bingo card this season, it looks like that was for the better—Mookie Betts is getting back to full strength just in time.

Excited to see him back on the field?

Someone other than Freeman, Betts, or Ohtani is set for a breakthrough

When you hear anything around Dodgers superstars, names like Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Shohei Ohtani instantly ring bells. But there’s another name that is just about to grab all your attention.

None other than Yoshinobu Yamamoto. With a 12-year, $325 million deal, calling him a “breakout player” might not do justice. But look at it this way—his MLB rookie season was solid, but it didn’t quite live up to the pool of expectations when he initially signed with Los Angeles. With a 3.00 ERA in 18 starts and 105 strikeouts in 90 innings, Yamamoto did a decent job of proving his belonging. Unfortunately, his injuries kept him apart from unveiling his potential.

That is, until last October. During the Dodgers’ World Series run, Yamamoto displayed exactly why he’s labelled a big-game pitcher.

He did have a tough postseason debut, but he locked in and gave three remarkable starts that served as a reminder for everyone as to why he was one of the most sought-after arms in baseball. And that momentum carried into spring training and then to Japan, where he tossed five innings of one-run ball in his first career Opening Day start.
