Anthony Volpe was once a kid with a dream in his eyes as he looked on at one of the legendary players who rewrote the New York Yankees dynasty. Derek Jeter, hailing from Kalamazoo, had been an inspiration to many young kids, with his dynamic style of play having conquered the hearts of all. As he saw the former captain for the first time, Volpe discovered his calling – being a shortstop for the Pinstripes and following in Captain Clutch’s footsteps.
Little did anyone know at the time that the same kid would make his dream a reality. The 21-year-old now stands on the grand stage of baseball. He is set to make an appearance on the Opening Day 23, a dream come for all that were hoping to see him. But let’s rewind to the years when Volpe was still a kid and a massive Derek Jeter fan.

One instance was when the 13-year-old Volpe was among the lucky few to score an autograph from Jeter, just before he retired. However, this wasn’t the first time that the two had crossed paths.
