From the looks of things, the old Boston has fallen into the cycle of incoming and outgoings, with one player left to recite that 2018 World Series glory. Undoubtedly, there are phases in every team’s period where changes happen. However, for the Boston Red Sox, that change has taken all away from them with only new to cater to. But how come this is the case?

When success and glory peak, the challenge is to prolong it. Given that in baseball, players play a big part in it, teams always try to keep their core intact. However, this is not the case with the Sox, with all having left them except Rafael Devers, creating a void yet to be filled. Strange, but this is the reality!

It has been quite a journey for the 2018 champions. After their title-win campaign, things have not moved in the right direction for them. Having finished three of their last five campaigns in the last place in the AL East, they are badly looking for redemption.

But no one is to blame for this condition, all thanks to their strategy of leaving their core behind, which has left Rafael Devers on the squad from that champion side, with Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, Joe Kelly, and JD Martinez, all gone to the newer destinations leaving the Red Sox with all but only regret.

However, it feels, they have finally learned the lesson and want to build a strong team. But do their latest signings reflect that?

Boston Red Sox on the Move With the Signings of Vaughn Grissom and Lucas Giolito, but Will This Make a Difference?

During the off-season, the Red Sox were in the top five that could target the player whenever a trade was projected. However, even after their presence, things did not move in the right direction for them. But, there is a change with them getting a few players on the go. Notably, Boston has signed Vaughn Grissom and Luis Giolito to their squad in search of strength in the past one day.

Given the 22-year-old Grissom hit an average of  0.277 during the last campaign, his signing adds value to the squad after the departure of Alex Verdugo. However, the only concern is his defensive mistakes, but the Sox should manage as they would look to do with Giolito. The $38.5 million signee has had a decent career so far, with 61 wins t at an ERA of 4.4. However, his last campaign was a mixed bag, which added negatives to the deal.
