“I took that pitch, and I’ve got to live with it,” Francisco Lindor said about his bizarre strikeout against the San Francisco Giants. It wasn’t anything like what baseball fans have seen in a long time. For the New York Mets fans, it was a travesty and gave them another reason to question Lindor’s form. The star hasn’t been his usual self all season, but this could prove to be his nadir in the eyes of the fans.

Lindor had announced some time ago that part of why he wasn’t able to see pitches was due to his contact lenses. The Mets star’s eyes used to dry up, which prevented him from batting properly. As a result, Lindor decided to shift to his tinted glasses, which helped him look at the pitch in a better way. However, none of that came into play in his bizarre at-bat during the seventh inning of the game.

With Randy Rodriguez on the mound, Lindor looked to increase the Mets’ lead. However, the star proved to be quite helpless against Rodriguez’s pitching. Despite his best efforts, Lindor couldn’t read the spin on the pitcher’s ball. And that proved to be his undoing, as when he was 3-2, instead of swinging, Lindor decided to take the pitch. That led to him getting caught looking weirdly. But why did he do that? The slugger revealed this in his postgame interview.

“He hadn’t thrown a strike (in the at-bat),” Francisco Lindor said per New York Post. “I made every pitch a strike (by swinging outside the zone) and was helping him out. My best bet was to take a pitch. It just so happened that was the one strike the whole at-bat.” So it looks like Lindor took a chance but it blew right in his face. While that’s a disappointing situation for him, the Mets fans aren’t happy either.

Just a few weeks ago they had given a standing ovation to Lindor but now the patience might be starting to run out. The people of Queens have spoken and it’s not pleasing to hear.

Fury fills the New York Mets fans as Francisco Lindor continues his inconsistencies

Immediately after Lindor’s bizarre leave, the Mets fans began questioning his commitment to the team. “Bro is ready to go home,” a fan said. That’s a rough comment but far worse had been said about him. “Questionable” another fan noted. Certainly, it was weird how Lindor’s decision-making kept on getting worse during that at-bat.

“This guy needs to go, he is not made for nyc and cannot be the biggest ‘star’ of the team…he isn’t a franchise player,” an angry Mets faithful said. Slowly it seems that calls for Lindor’s departure are getting stronger. “That’s what you get for $31 million…guy is a joke. Been saying this for years,” another Mets fan said. One can feel the anger that’s radiating within the Mets’ fanbase.

“Huge waste of money,” said a user. Those words echoed the entire feeling of the New York Mets fanbase. Throughout his career, Francisco Lindor has performed better in the second half of the season. Now he desperately needs that to happen again.
