But even a superstar like Aaron Judge will make mistakes and have bad games. But like many other MLB stars, he has a way to get over these slumps and bad starts. Judge recently opened up on a superstition that helps him get over a bad start to a game.

Many top athletes have superstitions they believe in and follow. Aaron Judge is one of those athletes. The Yankee star recently appeared on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and opened up on his superstition. Judge said that he chews two pieces of gum through practice, defense, and his first at-bat. If he gets out on his first at-bat, he throws the gum and chews a fresh one.

During the appearance, the Yankees slugger said, “One that comes to mind is bubblegum. So, double-bubble, two pieces before the game, throw it in. Run out to the field, warm up, play defense, come out for my first at-bat. If I get out, nah hold on, it it can’t be, I’m not the reason I got out. It’s gotta be this dang, it’s the gum. Put it in the trash, start with a new piece and hopefully that has the mojo, you know?”

It is not that surprising that Judge has this superstition as it helps him stay clear-headed during games. Seeing how he performed in 2022, he must not have needed much gum. The Yankees will be hoping that the trend will continue in 2023. Jeter recently signed a 9-year $360 million contract and will be hoping that he will perform at an MVP level for many years.

Judge earned his contract

Aaron Judge turned down a 7-year $213.5 million contract offer before the start of the 2022 season. He then went out and had the best season of his career, earning himself the $360 million that the Yankees gave him. Furthermore, he did it in an emphatic fashion.
