Edwin Diaz has suffered a tear in his right patellar tendon

Many New York Mets fans hoped it would be less serious than it looked. But the Mets organization has shared that Diaz has suffered a tear in his right patellar tendon. They shared the update via Twitter also saying that he’ll have surgery to heal it.

In the Tweet, the Mets said, “Edwin Díaz underwent imaging today that revealed a full-thickness tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee. He will have surgery today performed by Dr. David Altchek.” This is big news as the Mets will have to sign a replacement.

Stars and fans have shown support for Diaz and have wished him well as he starts a long recovery process. Even Mets owner Steve Cohen has shared a statement for his star pitcher.
