Derek Jeter is one of the most popular baseball players ever. His tremendous sporting success made him an iconic all-time great. Like many other legendary athletes, Jeter also has dated female celebrities in the past. One of those high-profile romantic flings was with world-famous pop star Mariah Carey.

Derek Jeter played as the New York Yankees shortstop for his entire MLB career. Jeter had a glorious playing record where he won five World Series championships. He is also a 14-time All-Star member, whereas Mariah Carey is a pop music sensation with an immense global outreach. 

Carey once performed at an MLB All-Star charity event. Despite struggling with an injury, she opted to perform. She even sang one of the songs she wrote for Jeter. 

Mariah Carey’s ode to Derek Jeter 

Derek Jeter and Mariah Carey dated for a brief period. The couple stayed together for only a year from 1997 to 1998. But yet it was a memorable chapter in Carey’s life. Notably, she was still married to music executive Tommy Mottola at that time. 

Jeter and Carey were heavily smitten with each other and deeply in love during their romantic escapades. Carey considered Jeter to be the savior of her life, who helped her get out of an unhappy marriage. She even wrote two songs to honor her love for Jeter. The songs got titled, ‘My All’ and ‘The Roof’. 

Back in 2013, the MLB administration organized an All-Star charity concert. The event got organized to raise funds for the victims of Superstorm Sandy. Hosted at Central Park’s Great Lawn, the concert had Carey among the performers. She had a shoulder injury just a few days before the event and so performed in a sling.

Carey told the audience, “Was in a tiny bit of pain, but I’m okay. I’m not in the best of health. I’m filming this for my own self, for incredible laughs.” Carey even sang ‘My All’ among the other tracks in her four-song setlist. MLB later made a $1 million donation for Sandy Relief efforts. 

Furthermore, Jeter married supermodel Hannah Davis in 2016. They are parents of three daughters. Jeter now lives a peaceful family life as a devoted husband and a caring father. Meanwhile, Carey began dating dancer Bryan Tanaka in 2016. She is a mother to two kids from her previous marriage.
