Lately, the tables have turned for the New York Yankees. The final stretch of April and starting week of May was forgettable for the Pinstripes. But since then, with captain Aaron Judge’s comeback from injury, things have looked brighter. Moreover, even the Bombers’ offense has arrived and pulled off some brilliant victorious (barring yesterday’s game).

Amidst this rather topsy-turvy season, the Yankees have received yet another piece of positive news, and everything is finally starting to fall in place for the Yanks as they start their climb in AL East.

After the Yanks pushed Luis Severino’s Major League return for the longest time, the two-time All-Star pitcher admitted he was ready to return a few days back. And now, finally, Luis Severino is set to make his Major League return after being on the IL since Opening Day.

As confirmed by Bryan Hoch, Luis Severino will make his MLB 2023 start against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

That being said, Severino’s Double-A rehab outing, right before the debut announcement, was under-par. He threw 3.1 innings, giving six hits and concerning two runs.

But Luis Severino defended himself, by saying, “It happens every time you go to a rehab assignment. You get hit. That’s me. I’m big-league ready.”

With Domingo German’s potential suspension, Severino’s return comes at the right time, which was pointed out by a few fans. Others simply spoke about the strength he adds to the rotation while remaining fans said that this would make no difference in the long run.

Luis Severino returns Sunday, against Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park in Ohio. In 2022, Severino made 19 starts. He threw 102 innings at 3.18, registering 112 strikeouts while conceding 14 homers.
