The Las Vegan, now a passionate Phillie, made a birthday blast against the Arizona Diamondbacks in NLCS Game 1. Harper hit a homer that shot off starter Zac Gallen which had the crowd applaud at a throbbing 111 decibels, the cherry on top being his birthday.

Adding to the fervor felt at South Philadelphia, he went on to become the 4th player in history to homer on their birthdays. He joined the club alongside Willie Aikens, Evan Longoria, and Kolten Wong, the other three who did it. With that, he propelled the Fightin’ Phils to a 2-0 lead.

Addressing his homerun, Harper excitedly explained ahead of the game, I’ve always wanted to play on my birthday. A Game 1 win would be awesome. That’s what you want any time you’re in your own ballpark and doing that. I’ve always wanted to do this, so I’m excited to have the opportunity and the chance to do it.” ‘

Harper hadn’t homered in a Major League game on his birthday earlier. His Nationals teams never advanced far enough into October, and he turned thirty on a day off after the Phillies’ NLDS championship game the previous season. But this time this year, the moment was ideal for him to seize the opportunity, create history, and grab the spotlight.
