The Philadelphia Phillies started the off-season with some great moves, such as signing Trea Turner to a $300 million deal. But Spring Training seems to be an unlucky period for the team. First, they lose Rhys Hoskins to a torn ACL, and now star pitcher Aaron Nola has halted extension talks. Talkin’ Baseball confirmed the news via Twitter, stating that Nola would become a free agent after the 2023 season.

In a Tweet, Talkin’ Baseball said, “Aaron Nola and the Phillies have ceased contract extension talks, per @ToddZolecki”. They further mentioned that “Nola is set to become a free agent after the 2023 season”. This is a huge blow for the Phillies and their fans as Nola is a massive part of their pitching rotation.
