Pete Alonso just dodged disaster.

He nearly saw his season, and who knows, maybe even his career—flash before his eyes.

This just sent shockwaves across the Mets camp.

Alonso just brushed the entire event off, saying, “Just another day.” His response is as fearless as his swing!

Steve Cohen fought tooth and nail to bring back Alonso; he even went down to meet him to convince him. Now had they lost one of the franchise cornerstones even before the season began?

Thankfully, nothing of the sort happened.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Pete Alonso just dodge a career-ending bullet, or is he simply invincible on and off the field?

Have an interesting take?

A video has resurfaced of Pete Alonso lying on the ground clenching his eyes. But the video that’s posted by SNY doesn’t show the hit by the ball, rather Alonso being tended to by the training staff present there. He then headed to the clubhouse. Anthony DiComo of MLB reported that Alonso has been hit in the face but is fine.

Still for New York Mets fans, this is scary. Anything could have happened, and it could have been catastrophic. A shattered orbital bone, maybe. A concussion maybe? The possibilities are endless, and it’s all more and more terrifying. But guess what! Pete Alonso, fans, and Steve Cohen all have the stars pass right over their heads. Because on any other day, Alonso would have ended up on the injured list. However, now he has returned to practice. He was spotted at first base during the live batting practice.

Pete Alonso on teaming up with Juan Soto

Now for years, undoubtedly, Pete Alonso has been the heart and soul of the New York Mets. It’s no wonder that Steve Cohen and David Stearns went above and beyond to get him back—he is simply the fan favorite. Of course, not to mention a power hitter. But this time the New York Mets brought another key player—the gem of the off-season—Juan Soto. And what an uproar and chaos it caused. But this move changes everything for the team.

On Wednesday at the Meet at Apple podcast, Alonso talked about his excitement over Juan Soto’s arrival in the Mets. For him, just sharing the lineup with Soto feels surreal to him. “I’m just so used to playing against him; it was like, ‘Wow! I have the potential to be on the same team.’” But as per Alonso, as his contract talks with the Mets became serious, he realized that he wasn’t just staying in NY; he was staying to compete for something huge.

Alonso also mentioned, “Every time you play against him, he has a big hit, makes a big play, or does something special. It’s so nice to have him on our side now.” But beyond all the excitement of Soto’s arrival, Alonso also mentioned that a prime reason he signed with the New York Mets is his love for the Mets fans. “I’ve had success, but I’ve also failed. But, over the course of time, to be continuously wanted by the Mets fans, it’s really special because I lay it all out there,” said Alonso. And well, now that he has returned and escaped a close call, there is much to look forward to. He, with Soto’s firepower, just signals a new fiery era for the team.
