New York Mets fans are upset with the team’s recent form. There have been struggles with the batting lineup and pitching as well. Injuries and poor form have taken a toll on the team as they endure a bad patch of form. Most recently, Mets fans were left upset as an internet personality trolled the team. 

The 2023 MLB season could not have started on a more unexpected note for the New York-based team. They have really struggled to win games, especially over the last few weeks. This most recent jibe from a top media personality has only made fans upset. 

Media personality Frank “The Tank” Fleming mocks New York Mets at Pete Alonso charity event

Fans have been vocal about the Mets’ underwhelming season thus far, even criticizing the team at times. But most recently, internet personality Frank “The Tank” Fleming mocked the Mets at Pete Alonso’s comedy night. The event was for a good cause, with money going to Alonso’s Foundation to help charitable causes. Fleming was called up to the stage and given a signed jersey by Alonso himself. But the divisive personality trolled the Mets on stage in front of their players. He in particular seemed to target DH Daniel Vogelbach, who is struggling this year. Fleming seemingly called out Vogelbach’s ability. GENY Mets Report shared a video of the incident on Twitter

In the video, “The Tank” says, “You know, when I was 10 years old, I wanted to be a baseball player. But then, I realized I flinch whenever the pitch came. But you know what? My dream is alive again. I can’t run, I can’t field, I can just stand at the plate too and be a ‘designated watcher’.”

The reactions to this mockery have been unforgiving. 

Some fans called out Fleming for his comments. 

Others lamented the fact that Alonso is in a cast.

This was a bold comment by the divisive internet personality who took it to another level. Although Frank “The Tank” is a Mets fan, he regularly criticizes the team and mocks players. It’ll be interesting to see if the New York-based team can make a comeback with Alonso on the injured list.

The Mets have suffered from injuries this season with major stars out for extended periods. Most recently, Pete Alonso suffered a bone bruise after being hit by a pitch on his arm. He is currently on the injured list and may miss up to 4 weeks while recovering. But the New York-based team has signed a struggling player to a Minor League deal to add depth.
