October baseball is yet again missing Shohei Ohtani. After six years and countless records broken, the Japanese sensation still cannot boast any rings on his fingers. Playing – or rather stuck – with the Los Angeles Angels, the team has failed to make it to the postseason, let alone the World Series. As soon as free agency hits, many want Shotime to find a better team, if purely for the sake of baseball. Boston Red Sox legend Pedro Mart?nez?has some ideas.

The pitcher’s legend spreads far and wide in Beantown, where he was instrumental in breaking the city’s 86-year Fall Classic drought in 2004. It’s the only World Series title that Mart?nez holds, despite his long list of awards. Perhaps he sees something similar in the two-way sensation, or just wants a huge name in Boston. Either way, the veteran is rooting for the relative newcomer.

The last three years have been a delight for MLB enthusiasts, who have united to watch the most exciting ‘Sho’ in baseball. The day after the 2023 World Series is over, Shohei Ohtani will hit free agency. While there has been endless speculation on his next landing spot, Pedro Martinez wants to believe it’s the Boston Red Sox.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, the 3x Cy Young winner was confident, I think he?s going to be playing in Boston. I would love to have him.” However, it doesn’t change the fact that suitors will be lined up left and right to sign baseball’s unicorn. “But I think LA is also suited for him. I think San Diego could be another team where him and his friend, Yu Darvish, could probably meet together.”

Although everyone wants the two-way phenomenon, not anyone can pay the massive $500 mil price tag. One team that can?easily afford it though resides in Flushing and just so happens to have another Japanese pitching sensation. “I know (Kodai) Senga is on the Mets and they can also bring the money to pay him. So it?s gonna be a few teams that can also afford him. Those are the few places that I can think of Ohtani maybe landing,” Mart?nez continued. “But I have to say Boston No. 1.?

Far-fetched as it may sound to some, these claims surprisingly hold the truth.

Among some of the biggest fanbase, the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners are rooting for Ohtani in their midst. Many believe it’s actually the Los Angeles Dodgers who will be at the top of Shotime’s list because of his supposed West Coast preferences. But according to The New York Post, the two-way player may very well be wearing red, white and midnight navy in 2024.
