New York Yankees Rookie Who Showed Glimpses of Derek Jeter in 2022, Heaps High Praises on Aaron Judge

Fresh-faced rookie Oswaldo Cabrera stepped into the field as the starting third baseman for the New York Yankees last year. In his own words, “I love that guy so much, it’s not because he’s a good player, he’s a better person so. Outside of the field, you can see how that guy is so good and so everybody loves that guy. Leadership. He’s a mentor for me, so I’m glad to play with that guy.”

Judge’s influence has reached far and wide, even beyond Cabrera. Oswaldo Cabrera left a trail of awe and admiration in his wake after his few exceptional performances in the ballpark last season. The youngster’s plays were so impressive that they drew comparisons to another legendary New York Yankees’ captain, Derek Jeter.

Cabrera’s displays of skill were reminiscent of Jeter’s glory days. One particular play stands out in memory, where a soaring fly-ball hurtled towards him at a breakneck speed. Without missing a beat, Cabrera sprang into action, executing a powerful jump. In a lightning-quick movement, he snatched the ball out of the air and sent it flying back to the infield in a move that echoed Jeter’s memorable play in the 1998 season.
