New York Yankees’ 2023 season has been up and down so far, to say the least. The team has had some big wins but also some disappointing losses. Some young prospects have joined the team, such as Anthony Volpe, who has looked a bit inconsistent. But that is expected from a rookie in their first MLB season. Most recently, the Yankees announced that they are calling up a 22-year-old infielder from their Triple-A team. 

This decision comes as a surprise, as no infield injuries have been reported just yet. But the Bronx Bombers do need a change or two following an up-and-down spell of games. 

The New York Yankees have called up infield prospect Oswald Peraza

2023 has been a somewhat tumultuous season for the New York Yankees thus far in terms of their results. Like a rollercoaster, the ride has been full of twists, turns, and lurches so far. Most recently, the New York-based team announced that they are calling up 22-year-old shortstop Oswal Peraza from their Triple-A affile Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. This is a somewhat surprising move, considering that none of their infielders have been injured. MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch shared the news via Twitter. 

In a tweet, Hoch said, “Oswald Peraza is being called up by the #Yankees. No corresponding roster move announced yet.” But it has since been confirmed that the Yankees’ RBI leader for the season, Giancarlo Stanton, has been placed on the 10-day IL.

Although the Bronx Bombers will miss Stanton, this is a chance for Peraza to prove himself. The young prospect was in a heated battle for a roster spot during Spring Training but tragically missed out. Peraza now has an opportunity to show his skills.
