Josh Donaldson’s injury leaves a place for Oswald Peraza to fill

The outfielder Josh Donaldson had a poor game. Not only did he fail to strike the ball, but got injured while running. It has added another misery for him and the team. But the entire episode has opened the doors for Oswald Peraza, who could be filling the boots of Donaldson. Notably, Peraza has an average of 0.261 and OPS of 0.847 in the minor league. He has scored 12 HRs with 28 RBIs and could be a great addition to the Yankees.

Talkin’ Yanks shared a Twitter post related to the incident. It was more inclined toward Peraza’s inclusion in the squad. While quoting Journalist Jack Curry, they wrote, “The “strong belief” is that Oswald Peraza would be recalled if Josh Donaldson goes on the IL.” 

If the exact happens, it would put Donaldson in a difficult situation. He has failed to justify his $92 million contract and has been poor this season. Donaldson is averaging 0.142 after scoring 10 HRs and 15 RBIs at an OPS of 0.659. This has made him very unpopular amongst the Yankees’ fanbase. Their response to his injury update added more to their anger against him.

Injuries are tough to swallow, especially when the season is on the line. But the situation is different as fans are happy seeing a player leaving so their favorite one can take his place.
