Opening Day for the 2023 regular season is now just a few days away, with the ultimate showdown starting on March 30. Like any other team, the New York Yankees fanbase is excited and anticipating the games to start with the hope of winning the Fall Classic. The excitement has increased tenfold ever since the team announced their talented prospect, Anthony Volpe, is being pulled up as a shortstop for opening day. But a few hours after, the Yanks made another announcement about yet another talented prospect, Oswald Peraza.

However, as soon as fans on Twitter learned about the update on Peraza’s future, they were left dejected, with many of them thinking it was a wrong move by the Yanks. While some of them thought of it as the right move because Peraza, being the team’s future, is inevitable. 

What has happened with the New York Yankees prospect?

Shortly after announcing Anthony Volpe on the opening day’s roster, the Yanks announcement of the young prospects Matt Krook, Oswald Peraza, C Carlos Narvaez, and Nick Ramirez. The Yanks optioned Krook, Peraza got Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and the other two got reassigned to minor league camp. Soon as this news went up on Twitter, fans started bashing the management for sending Peraza back instead of having him on the roster on opening day.

Following are some of the fans’ reactions towards Peraza going to Triple-A ahead of the opening day. 

Meanwhile, there are few who think that the Yanks made the right decision with Peraza optioning to Triple-A. 

Needless to say, fans are happy with Volpe going up but dejected over Oswald Peraza being sent down. According to the fans, Peraza has shown what he is worthy of in spring training, and hence he deserved to be on the roster for opening day with Volpe beside him. Some do think the Yanks made the right move, but they are sure Peraza will be right back in the team sometime in the regular season.

How has Peraza played in the spring training?

Before playing in the spring training this year, Oswald Peraza had his taste of the big league last season by playing 18 games. During that time, he had 57 plate appearances with .833 OPS.

But Peraza batted just .205 over 14 games during spring training. It might not have been the best play, but he has shown his capabilities of playing in the majors.
