2023 has hardly been the season that The New York Yankees will look back on with fond memories of recent times. Almost on the brink of a losing record with their current roster, the Yankees were on the verge of a historic streak to make the postseason for the 8th time running this season. That hope, however, seems to have been extinguished after the Pinstripes folded in a three-game series against the Blue Jays. However, that wasn’t the only bad news for the fans.
The fans in the Bronx are not having a good time this season. Despite ending last season on a high with a division win and a loss to the eventual champions, the Houston Astros, hopes were high for 2023. With the returning 2023 Homerun King Aaron Judge signed to a $360 million extension and ace Gerrit Cole to lead their rotation into the season, fans were high on their expectations from the team. And despite bad news for the season, the Yankees weren’t letting up with their giveaway news either.

On Saturday, the New York Yankees officially announced that their game against the D-Backs was rescheduled due to bad weather. Pushing the game on Saturday to a Monday instead, this also meant that the special Aaron Judge bobblehead giveaway would have to be pushed to another day.
In a surprising move, instead of keeping their promise with the date of the giveaway, the Yankees pushed it into next season scheduling the giveaway after spring training in 2024. The no. 62 bobblehead will now be given to fans on April 20, 2024 when the Pinstripes take on fellow division rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Bronx fanbase was not particularly enthuses about the decision by the Yankees. Rescheduling a weekend game to a Monday has obviously caused some fans to get angry about the change in schedule. And if there’s anything about the Yankees fanbase we know, they do not hold back.
Yankees Fans React to the Change in Schedule
Most fans were angry about the reschedule being announced so last minute. With the game set to begin with less than a day to go, most fans would have already accounted for the day and bought their tickets accordingly. The reschedule will undoubtedly cause some changes to their plans going forward.
How the hell you shit on people who paid for tickets for today’s game in order to get the bobble head? Now they gotta exchange or get new tickets next year? Trash https://t.co/MBmEa7wGks

Other fans seemed to understand the Yankees’ conundrum and instead sided with the franchise stating that these delays were because of things out of their control. Besides, the bobbleheads were a cool addition but its not like fans were losing out on their chance at getting them. It was just delayed.
So what should they do turn off the rain ?

So they shit on fans over a cheap bobble? Yea I love bobble heads, but they are what they are! Nobody loses the chance at the bobble

Still other didn’t understand the switch up quite well enough. The choice to distribute the bobbleheads next season instead of on Monday was enough for some fans to express their hurt.

The Yankees will be hoping to end the season without losing too many more. At least enough to keep their 30 year streak of no seasons with a losing record alive. But whether they can manage to hold onto that remains another question altogether.
