“On Business, Yankees Win!”: Fans Go Gaga as Shohei Ohtani Has a Rare Place in the New York Yankees Team Store

Having played only five seasons in Major League Baseball, Shohei Ohtani has risen as the face of modern baseball. Coming off of a terrific season in 2022 and winning the World Baseball Classic in the offseason, the two-way phenom is off to a great start. With this great start, Shotime has multiple endorsement projects lined up, giving a boost to his increasing fanbase. Notably, the former AL MVP has managed to leave his presence in New York as well. 

Both teams from New York have shown the potential to acquire Ohtani to their teams after he enters free agency post this season. And from the looks of it, the American League’s New York Yankees have already started to reel Ohtani to the Bronx by having him in their team store.   

What is the New York Yankees doing to bring Shohei Ohtani into their corner?

All thirty teams in the big league have their own team stores catering to players, honoring retired players, and have many iconic items in there to make the fans a part of the team. Usually, a team store sells jerseys and other products of only the players on their team, not the opposition ones.

But the New York Yankees seem to be on a different path than others. Therefore, Japanese jerseys of the LA Angels’ two-way phenom, Shohei Ohtani, have made their way to the Yankees’ team store. It seems like the Yanks cannot wait to steal Shotime from Anaheim to have him in the Big Apple. 

Ohtani’s free agency, which is still a season away, has already become a hot topic in Major League Baseball. MLB Pundits and fans all over the country are talking about this iconic player and where he will end up after this season.
