With the perpetual need to grow a sport, attract more fans, cater to a larger audience, and in extension, earn more money, every sport is becoming more commercialized. Similarly, when we talk about the MLB, the first time that would come to anyone’s mind is the NY Yankees. And for obvious reasons.

The New York Yankees are the most successful Major League team all across North America. Over the years, their fandom has grown and, in effect, their net worth has risen. Forbes released their list of The World’s 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams 2022. Surprisingly, with the sport of baseball, the number of teams that have been part of the list has only decreased over the years.

Which MLB teams made the Forbes list?

Markedly, in 2015, the Forbes list had 12 MLB teams. Over time, the numbers reduced to 8. And this year, only five MLB teams have made the list. At the present time, the last team to exit the list was the New York Mets.

The teams that made the Forbes list are:

  1. New York Yankees (4): $6 billion
  2. Los Angeles Dodgers (26): $4.08 billion
  3. Boston Red Sox (30): $3.9 billion
  4. Chicago Cubs (34): $3.8 billion
  5. San Francisco Giants (42): $3.5 billion

However, after reaching 70 victories, the Yanks slowed down during August with six straight series losses. Despite a poor month of August, the Yanks are slowly gathering rhythm and getting set for the playoffs (barring a poor streak of performance and the Rays playing spoilsport).
