Years after buying a minor share in the New York Mets, billionaire Steve Cohen went ahead and bought the entire team in 2020. With the aim of completely turning around the Mets’ reputation, Cohen made some massive changes in the team in the 2022 off-season. Having spent somewhat around half a billion dollars, the Mets, courtesy of Steve Cohen, became one of the top spenders of the offseason.
Looking at the changes Cohen is making, it would not be wrong to say that the Hedge Fund owner is not leaving any stone unturned to make the team as successful as possible. From taking fans’ opinions on things to actually making the changes as per the fans’ likes, Steve is doing everything in his hands to overturn the Mets. While doing so, the billionaire owner recently addressed a fan’s loyalty for sticking around for 16 games. However, baseball fans did not agree with him and with that fan.

As per SNY Tv, Cohen recently got to know about a fan who’s been going to Mets games, and the team was losing every single time. And when it finally changed after 16 years, Steve commended that fan’s loyalty.
Cohen, about the fan, said, “I was made aware of a fan that had gone to 28 Mets losses in a row over 16 years before finally ending that streak last night. Now that is true fan loyalty.”

It was indeed true fan loyalty because fans like this do not show up often. And thus, whenever they do, they need appreciation for the same. But a few fans do not agree with this.
How are the fans reacting to Cohen’s words?
While some fans agree, many do not. It’s because they think that that fan should now change his allegiance to the Mets. But there are also who are telling their stories of being a fan for longer than 16 years.
A user is saying that the fan should change his allegiance to the Mets’ cross-town rivals, New York Yankees, as he wrote, “Tell him start going to Yankees games.”

Meanwhile, there are a few who are saying that he should’ve stopped going to the games long ago, “Jesus tell him to stop going to games! He’s killing us”.
From the past 36 years, “I’ve been a season ticket holder for 36 years without a World Series. Am I in the conversation?”
And one fan would do the same because it will remain their favorite, “personally i’m rocking with the mets until i die so i would’ve continued going to games too.”
