For the Boston Red Sox fans, it is more like a sin to love any New York Yankees player. But Derek Jeter is an exception. Despite playing for over two decades for the Pinstripes, Jeter has also received love and affection from the arch-rival Red Sox fans.
By the time Jeter retired from Major League Baseball, he became a symbolic figure for the New York Yankees. During his playing days, the rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox was at its peak. And despite that, a large section of the Fenway Park fans appreciated Derek Jeter for his selfless attitude in the ballparks.

After the recent release of his much-awaited documentary series, ‘The Captain’, ESPN asked the Red Sox fans to send their messages to the former Yankees captain. And the response was so hilarious that even Jeter could not control his laugh.
Boston Red Sox fans on Derek Jeter
Currently, Derek Jeter is a hot topic in the town because of his documentary release. The ESPN-produced docuseries reflect Jeter’s personal life and professional career. The former Yankees captain will discuss the ups and downs of his baseball career in ‘The Captain.’
Even though Derek Jeter was an exceptional player and leader of the game, many Red Sox fans did not like him because he played for the rival team. And recently, when ESPN asked the Red Sox fans to reflect on their thoughts on Jeter’s baseball career, a few of them still dislike him.
One adult fan complained Jeter broke his heart when he was just five. Another Red Sox fan declared that the 2004 season was the best year of his life. Notably, the Red Sox won the World Series that year. “Oh, 2004 was the best year of my life, brother, thank you,” said the Red Sox fan.

This is not it. A veteran Red Sox fan even said that Jeter did not need to dive (referring to the iconic dive in the Bronx). “Derek, you didn’t need to dive. But you are a great champion,” said the fan.
A die-hard Red Sox fan even said that had Jeter played for the Cincinnati Reds, he would not have become so successful. “Listen Jets, if you would have been drafted by the Cincinnati Reds, nobody ever would’ve heard your name. So don’t forget that,” said the Red Sox fan.
“This is weird. Because I used to hate you. And now you are retired and I love you…,” said another Red Sox fan.
