The entire New York is finally back in baseball! Yes, you heard it right. Given that both the New York teams, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees failed to make an impact in the postseason, the spark was missing in the last few years. But there is a change in that. With the Mets already through the next round of the battle for the 2024 World Series, the Yanks are one win away from joining their Subway series rivals, all thanks to their latest win against the Kansas City Royals. They have Giancarlo Stanton to thank for!

Notably, the former World Series champions defeated the Royals in an exciting win 3-2, through contributions from new star Juan Soto and veteran Stanton. Because of this, the Pinstripes are close to shining again, which fans have wished for the last decade. However, there is a catch in this. Stanton, who has been brilliant with this postseason with a HR and Run, has shared a warning ahead of the crucial game.

It has been a smooth ride for the Yankees this season, however; they were also vulnerable once ahead of the playoffs. Though they overcame it with brilliant comebacks to finish as the American League East winners, the rivals are aware of the loopholes and can use them against them. Giancarlo Stanton, who has been through the ups and downs, is fully aware and has expressed the same feeling before game 4 against the Kansas City Royals.

While conversing with the media after a crucial run contribution, Stanton asked the Yankees to ensure tomorrow’s win. He said, “We need to wrap it up tomorrow. No wiggle room.” This means the faithful star is in no mood to go careless and suffer a fate similar to the San Diego Padres, who are now in a do-or-die battle against the Los Angeles Dodgers after game four.

It seems fans also want this before enjoying the World Series success as they brought different connotations.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Giancarlo Stanton the true leader the Yankees need, or is Aaron Judge still the captain?

Aaron Judge of the postseason, fans hail Big G after another solid game

Life has a full circle for Giancarlo Stanton, it seems. Once ridiculed as a liability, now a fan favorite. The sentiment was visible as the pinstripes faithful termed him “Aaron Judge of the postseason”. This is all thanks to his postseason at-bat per home run leader rate of 9.4, which placed him second to the legendary Babe Ruth in his sixth postseason. Surprisingly, Captain Judge was not on the list, which gave fans more reasons to back Stanton with a unique request.

Here are a few tweets in the same direction. A fan termed him as a Captain in place of Aaron Judge. Few others joined in with demands for other players.

One said, “Hopefully, other guys start getting hits. These games are so tight, hard to enjoy lol”. That has been the common theme for the Yankees in this NLDS. Apart from Stanton and Juan Soto, the rest of the Bronx offense hasn’t been as good as expected. Call it the post-bye rust or typical Yankee inconsistency, the hitters haven’t been up to their usual level yet.

Another said, “Please wrap it up tomorrow. My stress level is at an all-time high.” As we’ve seen from the Dodgers vs Padres series, going 2-1 up doesn’t mean the job’s done. The Bronx Bombers must ensure the series doesn’t go to the 5th game. Because, despite that game being at Yankee Stadium, the pressure might prove too much for the Pinstripes.

Few more echoed the dominant voice and backed Stanton for captainship. It’s quite interesting how Aaron Judge’s popularity pales in comparison to the love the Yankee Nation showers for Big G.

This fan wanted Stanton to be the captain. The reason is simple. While Judge usually disappears at the playoffs, Stanton has made it a habit to come through with clutch hits. Though Aaron Judge has had his share of memorable moments, the fact they’re few and far between isn’t helping his cause.

Again, this fan too, put Stanton over Judge. However, one can’t deny that the Yankees wouldn’t even be in the playoffs had it not been for Aaron Judge’s brilliance. With over 10 WAR in 2024, All Rise carried the Yankees during some of their toughest period. So it might just be a matter of time before the captain is back to his best, right?

Do you feel that Stanton and fans are right about their demands? Will Giancarlo Stanton be a cheerful man with the captainship demand? Share your thoughts!
