It was a wild time at LoanDepot Park on Sunday, March 19th. In a highly anticipated match, the US brutally defeated Cuba in the World Baseball Classic. It was extra special because Sunday night was the first time the Caribbean country played in Miami since the Cuban revolution in 1959. As for the US, it was the Trea Turner show again. Videos of the no. 9 hitter hitting a solo home run in the second inning have now gone viral. The American team scored in each inning and their play ultimately led to a complete and total destruction of Cuba at 14-2.

There were protestors outside the stadium, and fans interrupted the game three times by running onto the field. The sold-out stadium seemed equally divided between the USA and Cuba, screaming their support for each team. By the end of it, it couldn’t even be said that the match went through ups and downs. Because while Cuba started out strong, the USA dominated the field.

When the official World Baseball Classic announced the news, “Team USA is finals-bound! #WorldBaseballClassic”, fans went into a frenzy. While anyone would be happy for their team to gain a victory, it’s this particular game that had fans screaming for blood.

People started commenting about the Star-Spangled banner, both the flag and the national anthem.

Since the WBC takes place before the regular season, some people don’t view it as a ‘real’ game. So one fan rightly called out those that were happy with their country now that it had won.

But overall, people were really happy about the win.
