The New York Yankees showcased their dominant offensive muscle this weekend. While they completed a stellar sweep of the Chicago White Sox, the bottom of their lineup gave a pleasant surprise. On one hand, big names like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton did their part. On the other, it was the unexpected heroes at the bottom of the order who stole the show.

Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton who usually stand at the heart of the Yankees’ lineup, were kept relatively quiet by the White Sox pitching. However, the Yankees fans had no reason to fear. Thanks to names like Jon Berti and Anthony Rizzo, because of which the sweep was finally possible.

Batting 6th through 9th, the likes of Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Jose Trevino, and Berti went a combined 7 for 14, plating 5 runs and scoring 5 themselves. “The bottom of the order, you’re just trying to do what you can to help produce and flip the lineup over and get those guys up,” the 34-year-old said. “Obviously, when those guys are going good, it’s fun to watch.” Also, it is important to note that, this isn’t a one-game phenomenon.

During their current seven-game winning streak, the Yankees’ bottom order has been a consistent source of production. It is a welcome change, adding another layer of depth to an already potent offense.

Of course, it wasn’t all about the bats. Starting pitcher Carlos Rodon continued his impressive run, tossing six solid innings and silencing any doubters. Jose Trevino weighed in on Rodon’s performance. He said, “He [Rodon] got after it and he wanted to prove something. He’s doing that right now. For someone to come out like that, in this kind of stadium, the fans expect a lot, he’s living up to that right now, for sure.” The Yankees’ pitching staff as a whole has been on fire lately, boasting a microscopic 0.80 ERA during this winning streak.

This well-rounded performance against a struggling White Sox team sends a clear message: the Yankees are a force to be reckoned with. With a deep lineup clicking on all cylinders and a dominant pitching staff, the Bronx Bombers are looking like serious contenders for the Fall Classic.
