Most recently, they welcomed the teammate of none other than Derek Jeter in a scary manner.

The Bananas went from a team struggling to sell tickets to now making hundreds of thousands of dollars. They have added extreme novelties such as flaming bats and acrobatic defending. But they welcomed this former Yankees player to the Banana Ball by scaring him.

The Savannah Bananas welcomed Derek Jeter’s former teammate Nick Swisher to Banana Ball with a prank

The Savannah Bananas have implemented a lot of new ideas to make their brand of baseball interesting. Most recently, they brought in Derek Jeter’s teammate and 2009 World Series Champion Nick Swisher. Furthermore, they welcomed him to Banana Ball with a little prank. During his first at-bat, the catcher slid across the plate and the pitcher threw the pitch behind Swisher’s back. The Banans shared a video of Jeter’s former teammate’s first at-bat on Twitter. It was a prank aimed at scaring Swisher and also welcoming him.

In a Tweet, the Bananas said, “The only appropriate way to welcome Nick Swisher to Banana Ball is by scaring the daylights out of him.” This was the ultimate entertainment move by the Bananas. They added more excitement to the debut of a beloved superstar.

Swisher played an important role in helping the Yankees win the 2009 World Series and is a respected former player. The Bananas did well by bringing a player of his stature into their game. But the Bananas have signed one of Jeter’s former teammates before.

Jeter’s former teammate Johnny Damon once suited up for the Bananas

Before Nick Swisher, one of Derek Jeter’s other former teammates suited up for the Savannah Bananas. This is none other than 2-time World Series champion and former Yankees star Johnny Damon. The Bananas added Damon in a big move this February, bringing a 2-time All-Star to their roster. Furthermore, it added excitement amongst fans to see a former MLB star suit up for the Bananas.
