Baseball is a sport that has an electrifying quality. There are many exhilarating moments one can experience: the thrill of hitting a home run, striking a batter out, reaching a base just in the nick of time, or racing across the turf of the field to make an incredible catch. But baseball is also a team sport. The best thing that can come out of the game is the thrill of winning as a team, running across the yard to engulf teammates as they make a winning play.

For three baseball players, that bond has been stronger than any other in history. There is this one New York Yankees trio that has spent more seasons together than any other. And baseball isn’t the only sport that celebrates teamwork. In the NHL, yet another trio of players has spent a bewildering 17 seasons playing together. Let’s take a moment to reminisce about the team spirit that these players have.

There’s something special about a trio that can stick together through the dark times as well as the glorious days. And when it comes to a lifetime of sticking together, few trios can be on par with the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang.

These three have been on the ice together for an incredible 17 seasons, a feat that has only been matched once before in the history of American sports. That’s right, they’re in the same league as Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Jorge Posada, the legends who were the kings of the ballpark from 1995 to 2011.

However, let’s step back to Crosby, Malkin, and Letang, who won the Stanley Cup thrice as a team – in 2009, 2016, and 2017. They’ve earned individual honors as well, from MVP awards to All-Star game appearances. And they’ve done it all while playing 3,030 games and winning 103 playoff games as one.

Derek Jeter and his legendary teammates enlarged the New York Yankees dynasty

There was a time when the New York Yankees had a set of baseball legends in their midst known as the Key Three. Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera were the cornerstones of the Yankees in the late 1990s and early 2000s dynasty, leading the team to four World Series championships in just five years. Their journey together is something out of a book. They were all drafted or signed by the Yankees in the early 1990s, and they worked their way up through the minor leagues together.

They were called up to the big leagues in 1995 and never looked back. Over the years, they rewrote the Yankees dynasty. In 2009, they were all on the Yankees’ roster when the team won its fifth championship in just 14 years. They went on to play together for 17 consecutive years and during that time; they experienced it all, from crushing defeats to electrifying wins.
