Eli Manning thanked Derek Jeter for calling him during his rookie season with the New York Giants

Derek Jeter recently made an appearance on the Eli Manning Show. And during the show, Manning thanked the Yankee legend for the support he provided at the time. In particular, the NY Giants legend thanked the MLB Hall of Famer for calling him during his rookie season and offering him support.

The former Giants quarterback literally called Jeter a role model of him. Manning said “You called me to kind of, after that week we’re about to play a game. And you just said, hey you know, keep grinding, keep your head up, keep working. New York’s a tough place. And it meant a lot to me ’cause when I was, you know, coming into New York, like you were the role model.”

Furthermore, he stated that Jeter was pure class and that he appreciated getting the phone call from him. Similar to Jeter, Manning also had an extremely successful NFL career. And is widely considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. He finished his career as a 1-time MVP and 2-time Super Bowl champion.

Jeter and Manning have a lot in common

Both Derek  Jeter and Eli Manning played in New York their whole careers. Jeter for the Yankees and Manning for the Giants. Furthermore, both legends won multiple championships for their teams. Jeter won 5 World Series titles and Manning won 2 Super Bowl titles.
