After months of doubt, the New York Yankees are finally showing their two capabilities. Firstly, they have won eight of their last ten games, looking like a champion team. Secondly, with this run, they are looking for a strong contender for the playoffs, despite being languishing last in the AL East. And because of it, the narrative surrounding the team has changed completely. But that was not the case before and with an eye on the future, changes are expected.

Given that the Yankees have invested a lot of money in making these changes, any finish without playoffs would have been a setback. And given that it is still all open, they look interested in signing Coach Prime Deion Sanders for better results. Though it was not the first, Sanders would join the Yankees.

There are only a few players with a talent that matches Deion Sanders. It is because he is the only athlete who scored a baseball home run and then claimed a touchdown in the same week. And because he did it all in a competitive sphere while playing for the two top teams, including the Yankees, it adds to his feather. However, the journey was not simple for Sanders.

Being a football athlete with no baseball experience, he had to counter ifs and buts to make his name in the Yankees squad.

According to the New York Post, “The Yankees had drafted Sanders in the 30th round in 1988 because their minor league leadership loved athletes and George Steinbrenner loved football players. He hardly had any baseball experience and his rawness showed.” But Sanders changed it all with his skills.

“But so did his amazing tools. But beyond speed — breathtaking speed — Sanders belied the expectations about Neon Deion or Prime Time by wowing team officials and ultimately teammates with substance: work ethic, aptitude, and hunger to succeed,” it further read.

He not only played well but also became a part of the Yankees’ 1990 squad. Although Sanders played only two years at the Bronx, he contributed greatly during the troubles. And given that the Yankees are facing a similar problem, could it be a chance for the NFL legend to add more on his return to the Bronx but in a different role?

Is Sanders a Perfect Pick for the Yankees?

The 2023 season has not been the best for the Yankees. They could not mount on the positives and strong squad, failing to get enough wins. Though they are currently on a not-so-good-winning run, the situation could have been better. Thus the question arises: Do Yankees need someone like Coach Prime to lead them?

Although Deion has not played for long, he has experience of around nine years, making him a fit for the job. Moreover, he has an inspirational aura and an eye for talent, which can help the Yankees benefit from its farm system. Having worked with college footballers and got amazing results, Sanders knows how to get the best out of them. Plus, he is well aware of the team’s history.

But given the performances the Yankees are having, will they opt for a change now or leave it to be an option for the end of the season? What are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below.
