The then-New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning congratulated and thanked Jeter for being the perfect role model for him. He even recalled his younger days when Jeter helped him through his difficult time in the NFL.

“Personally, I just want to thank you for being such a great role model for me. I still remember when you called in my rookie year… I was lost a couple games and just getting a call from you meant so much to me at that time,” Eli Manning said.

The Giants coach Tom Coughlin also heaped Jeter for being a remarkable professional. “Derek, you are the consummate pro. You have been a great example for both young and old and you are truly a great Yankee,” Tom Coughlin said.

The Broncos QB, Russell Wilson, was not any different, as he also congratulated the Yankees legend for a remarkable career. “Congrats on your amazing, amazing career! I know when I was a kid, I used to be a huge Yankees fan,” Wilson said.
