The 2023 MLB season has been a Humpty Dumpty ride for the New York Yankees. Although the recent results have been positive, the team is still languishing last in the AL East. They are yet to get a surety of the playoffs spot as they currently trail it by eight games. And if they don’t make it to the postseason, it would be another setback for the 27-time champions, who have not won a championship since 2009. Despite all the mishaps, a glimmer of hope may be surfacing in the voices of the fans.

Given the huge and passionate fanbase, the team could not lose the momentum. Because of this, the Yankees might opt for a change in the coaching staff. And could go for an inspirational personality like Coach Prime Deion Sanders to instill the winning mentality back into the team. But will they be able to do so?

In the history of baseball, the New York Yankees are one of the best teams. With 27 World Series titles, they have the highest number of titles. But the situation has not been the best for them since the last decade. A team that was habitual of finishing at the podium has not made it to it once and is currently struggling. And the situation is not improving even after the second-highest spending in the league.

Because of this, the $7 Billion team is under pressure from fans. And with results not coming under Aaron Boone, fans want a change. Deion Sanders, a known face who has shaped many futures with his guidance in college football, seems to be the perfect fit.

Although he has not been involved with baseball much lately, but has vast experience. Also, Sanders has played for the Yankees during his MLB years and is well aware of the club’s culture and values. His winning record with teams with a loss of momentum and confidence is notable. The Pinstripes are in a similar situation and having Sanders at the helm can benefit them greatly. But will they be able to sign him? Let us analyze.

Can the Yankees Sign Coach Prime?

Reportedly, Sanders is on a $29.5 Million, five-year contract with the university team Colorado Buffaloes. He is slated to earn $5.5 million and will get additional bonuses if Sanders delivers and achieves more accomplishments. It makes his earnings more than $35 million. In comparison, it is more than five times what Aaron Boone is getting. The Yankees GM is currently on more than $1.15 million per season.

Given the difference, the Yankees have to increase the purse value if they want to have Sanders. Though with no dearth of funds, offering him a better contract should not be a problem for the Yankees. But it will depend upon whether the football coach wants to join the MLB stage or not.

What are your thoughts on this? Will Sanders accept his previous team’s offer if they approach him?
