Baseball icon Alex Rodriguez has managed to upstage many around him during his twenty-two years career in the big league. His habit of upstaging people with his charm did not go away even after he retired from the game in 2016. Shortly after hanging up his cleats, he met and started dating the pop icon, Jennifer Lopez. The former couple had been the power couple from the start of their relationship in 2017.

It was also the year that A-Rod and JLo managed to challenge the status of once an iconic couple, NFL star Tom Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen.

A couple of months into the relationship with Rodriguez, Lopez walked the red carpet of the Met Gala on May 1, 2017. But she didn’t do it alone. Her then-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez was right beside her. Together they made their red carpet debut as a couple. With this, A-Rod and JLo brought the aura of a power couple.

But there was already a power couple present at the Met. The star quarterback color-coordinated with his then-wife, Gisele Bundchen. However, it is still unclear if Brady and Bundchen felt threatened or not by A-Rod and JLo trying to steal their thunder. But the then-new couple had already made fans go gaga over them. 

However, the ex-celeb couple who had the potential to become a billion-dollar power couple could not withstand the challenges which came with time. The NFL star was married to his wife for over a decade. But even then, Brady and his wife could not defy the obstacles that life put on them. And thus, they got separated last year. 

Why did the once-power couples break up?

Considering the rumors, the reason Rodriguez and Lopez broke up was that the ex-athlete had apparently cheated on the actress. And because of that, JLo could not trust him anymore. But the actual reason behind their infamous breakup is best known to them only.

The NFL star and the Brazilian model started to have arguments in their marriage. It started happening after Brady signed up for another season with the Buccaneers.
