Hailing from California, Lenny Dykstra made his mark in Major League Baseball as a member of the New York Mets, debuting in 1985. Though he spent five successful years with the team, including winning a World Series Championship in 1986, the bulk of Dykstra’s career was spent with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he remained until his retirement in 1996. During this time, Dykstra fully embraced the city and became a die-hard Philadelphian. And his love for the city extended to the NFL’s Eagles, who recently made a Super Bowl appearance.

However, the three-time All-Star, whose Twitter popularity is increasing by the day, recently called out his former home in New York, after the Empire State Building in New York lit up in green and white to celebrate the Phillies entering the Super Bowl.

In a series of tweets, Dykstra directly called out the Empire State Building after they lit the building in green and white colors. Dykstra spoke about being an Eagles fan, and still not respecting this move to decorate the prized jewel of the Big Apple.

First, Dykstra said, “As a former #Mets player (even one who played longer for the #Phillies and is a diehard #Eagles fan), this is incredibly embarrassing.”

Followed by another tweet, in which he said, 1) Go #Eagles 2) What the f**k is wrong with you? Do you now identify as the Rocky Steps, the William Penn statue atop City Hall, @dolansbar or something?!?”

All in all, despite Dykstra’s reputation of not putting forth the most informed opinion, this trolling seems valid. Why would New York want to celebrate Philadelphia’s Super Bowl entry?
