Derek Jeter and Tom Brady stand as two close friends and legends of MLB and NFL. The pair house an unreal fan base whose popularity extends beyond their performances in the field, or the ballpark.

Simultaneously, the quarterback and shortstop have often been paralleled crediting their childhood in Michigan and an eventual encounter in Tampa Bay, where the quarterback lived in Jeter’s luxurious house.

Derek Jeter and Tom Brady share yet another connection

In an interview from 2012 with the Boston Herald, Derek Jeter opened up about the time he moved to Michigan, at the age of four. Eventually, the shortstop started playing for Michigan University. Simultaneously, Tom Brady also played as a quarterback for Michigan. While they crossed paths only for a year, Jeter spoke about seeing Brady for the first time with a wide smile.

As the Michigan connection with quarterback Tom Brady was brought up, with lit-up eyes, Jeter said; “And the Michigan ties don’t hurt, of course.”

Notably, Jeter moved out of Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1992 after getting drafted by the New York Yankees in the 1992 MLB draft.

However, their recent history or their previous 14 outings are barely emblematic of the great history that the Pinstripes hold, and the well-respected Yankees’ glory. 2022 was simply another example of their recent form.

Since their last World Series victory and appearance in 2009, the Pinstripes have made it to ten postseasons. However, choking in the postseason has become a new habit. And none of the postseason appearances materialized into a World Series entry. Ever since Jeter retired in 2014, the situation has only worsened.

In 2022, they topped the AL East with a significant margin and won the AL East Pennant. Following that, they beat the Guardians in the Division Series and finally lost to the Houston Astros in the all-important Championship Series.

By getting knocked out in the Championship Series, their World Series drought only grew.
