Ever since baseball came into existence in the 1800s, it has produced several iconic players. Many athletes came and tried their hands at baseball but eventually realized that it wasn’t a great fit for them. The NFL’s star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, is certainly one of those athletes who realized that baseball wasn’t for him. Being born to an athlete, sports were already in the NFL star’s system. It just wasn’t the same game that his father played. Junior Mahomes chose his own path, and by winning many accolades to his name, he showed that he made the right decision.

Long before Mahomes II became one of the best quarterbacks, he used to love coming out on the diamond. While doing so, he used to shag fly balls off of his father’s teammates. In a recent interview with the New York Post, the senior Mahomes talked about a rather small accident. That incident showed the senior Mahomes that junior wasn’t born to play baseball.

One day, the NFL star started the game as a shortstop and “threw the ball across the diamond and hit the 1B right between the eyes, broke his glasses.”

After this, to help him throw the ball at the right place, the coaches told him to, “start throwing the ball three-quarters of the way, and then it rolled there…” And after this incident, somewhere deep inside, the former baseball player must have known that his son wasn’t made for MLB, but for NFL.

What are some of the accolades won by the junior Mahomes?
Having made his debut in 2017, the quarterback has now played the game with the Chiefs for six years. During this time, he has already become a champion of the Super Bowl LIV. Not only this, but he also won the title of Super Bowl MVP in the same championship.

Aside from these two, he has won NFL’s MVP, Offensive Player of the year, and many more. There’s a lot to come for junior Mahomes in his career. And the OG Patrick Mahomes would be nothing but proud to see his son shine. Even this year, Mahomes led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl where they will clash against the Eagles for the silverware.
