The most expensive house in Tampa Bay is set to be demolished in the near future. The property was owned by former New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter, who put it on sale in September 2020 for $29 million. Ultimately sold for $22.5 million in 2021, Tampa Tomorrow reported that the new owners filed for a permit to knock down the high-priced house.

Luxurious homes owned by popular personalities are often famous, and the shortstop’s house is no stranger to visitors. Famously dubbed as St Jetersburg, the 22,796-square-foot mansion boasts 7 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a wine cellar, an outdoor kitchen, two boat lifts, an in-home movie theater, a gym, and more.

The former residence of Derek Jeter also housed another sports personality

Aside from once being the abode of the baseball Hall of Famer, NFL star Tom Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, also called the Tampa Bay place home at one time. When Brady signed with the Buccaneers, the two rented the property for the season.

“There’s enough space here,” Brady commented. “…The nice part is we have a lot of outdoor space here. I can do all my football training here, which I really like. It’s been a good place to come down.”

However, Brady complained of a lack of privacy in the house, saying boaters could pull up in his backyard anytime. Brady and his family soon vacated the place, but the mansion had already garnered public attention because of its famous occupants.

What is going to happen to the giant compound now?

Jeter’s house is the largest waterfront property in the area and takes up three lots. Now, it’s set to be razed to the ground by the current owner, a trust run by local lawyer David L. Koche. What they will build after reducing the building to rubble is still unclear, but there are reports of more than one house being constructed. Which would be the same as before Jeter built it.
