For New York and New Yorkers, Derek Jeter wasn’t a representation of 14-All Star appearances, two AL Hank Aaron Awards, or five Silver Slugger awards. For New Yorkers, Jeter was a rendition of loyalty, dedication, competitiveness, regularity, and steadiness. And similarly, in a recent candid conversation with Eli Manning, Derek Jeter spoke about a characteristic from his career that he completely adored.

Two years into The Eli Manning show, the New York Giants quarterback finally invited the former New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter and stunned him with a question about his 20-year-long career with the Pinstripes.

Which part of Jeter’s career was he most proud of?

In the interview, Eli Manning asked Derek Jeter, “What aspect of your career are you the most proud of?” The five-time World Champion’s response was extremely evocative of his personality, where he once again put his team ahead of his individual achievements.

Jeter said, “Consistency. I think it’s probably the most undervalued, unappreciated characteristic in any profession. Sure you know, people don’t value it until it’s gone and I mean, I took a lot of pride in being consistent, day in and day out. Whether it’s on the field performance, personality, addressing the media, responsibility, but I think consistency is something that I value the most.”

Eli Manning stood behind the Yankees captain and spoke about accountability. He said, “Yeah, I think 100%. Being accountable, being there.”

Derek Jeter’s ultimate year in Pinstripes commenced in May 2014. The Manning brothers, Eli Manning and Peyton Manning, and Derek Jeter, were very close friends. And once the hectic NFL season began, they wouldn’t get to watch Jeter for one last time in Pinstripes.

Consequently, the two brothers arrived in the Bronx to watch Jeter play for the last time in May 2014. The Bronx Bombers lost the game 1-5 to the Tampa Bay Rays. However, it displayed the universal Manning love for Captain Clutch.
