Derek Jeter had proven his passionate love for baseball through and through during his active years as an MLB player. Alongside his baseball expertise, he has also remained a golf aficionado. So, he began participating in the sport and organizing celebrity golf tournaments, post-retirement.

Recently, Jeter invited an NFL star to his golf tournament, who once attended the event a few years ago and felt out-of-place at the time.

Jeter hosts his celebrity golf tournaments for amusement as well as charity purposes for noble causes. The tournaments held annually get hosted across various parts of the country. Celebrities from the sporting fraternity and various professions attend the event to display their golf skills and also donate funds. NFL star Eli Manning once participated in one of those annual events in Florida.

However, little did Jeter know that Eli was star-struck by Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky when he attended the golf tournament years ago. And for the same reason, Eli did not attend another Jeter’s golf tournament in the future.

Derek Jeter invites Eli Manning to his golf tournament yet another time 

Eli Manning recently revealed his feeling of discomfort to Derek Jeter, at attending the golf tournament the last time. Jeter thus graced the Eli Manning Show for an interview session. Talking at length, the starry duo openly shared instances from their life. Attending the golf tournament in Florida, Eli admittedly felt uncomfortable boarding the tour bus filled with legendary athletes. 

A grateful Eli told Jeter, “I appreciate you inviting me on that one.” Jeter replied, saying, “No, you were definitely on the right bus. Right! Sometimes you don’t know it at the time. But you were on the right bus. And look, we are all a part of this fraternity. Right?”

The MLB legend continued, saying, “You know professional athletes like I say, regardless of the sport you play. But you haven’t been back since then. So now after coming on this show, we are gonna have to bring you back.” Eli added, saying, “I would love to, I know you are still doing it.” 

The charitable nature of Derek Jeter’s golf tournaments 

Jeter’s annual celebrity golf tours get sponsored by his media platform Players’ Tribune and charity trust, Turn 2 Foundation. The tournament hosted in the Bahamas this year raised $1 million in funds. Thus, the money got credited to the charity organization and will be utilized for youth welfare programs. Eli acknowledged the fact in the interview, thanking Jeter for his generosity.
