As the two East and North Division leaders, the Cincinnati Bengals took on the Buffalo Bills in a crucial game at Paycor Stadium. Eight minutes into the starting quarter of the game, Damar Hamlin, playing as a safety, collapsed on his back. This life-threatening debacle occurred a few seconds after an open-field tackle by Cincinnati’s wide receiver Tee Higgins. Eventually, on the field itself, CPR was administered, and the 24-year-old was rushed to the hospital before the NFL finally postponed the game.
However, the eventual suspension of the game led to various speculations surrounding the incident, and amongst the speculators stood the stained MLB outfielder Lenny Dykstra. Dykstra, who won the 1986 World Championship with the Mets, immediately inculpated the NFL for Damar Hamlin’s life-threatening moment.

The three-time All-Star blamed the NFL and lashed out at the League’s boardroom through his Twitter handle, by questioning the reason behind the suspension of the game, given that it was an injury that occurred in play.
Own it, NFL, you motherfuckers. #DamarHamlin

In another tweet, Dykstra asserted that if the accident wasn’t accelerated by the vaccine, the game is fundamentally hazardous and savage.
As If any of these people had ever heard of that before the last hour or so. Well, if that’s a thing, NFL is too inherently dangerous and must be cancelled. (He was the guy who gave, not received, the hit!) https://t.co/PAdWMOy88P

All in all, Lenny Dykstra didn’t agree with claims that suggested cardiac arrest was the reason behind Hamlin’s life-threatening accident. And being a growing Tweleb, multiple fans agreed with his claims.
How did fans react to Dykstra’s claims?
Analogous to that, this is how Dykstra fans reacted to the outfielder’s comments:

I’m not sure what happened to him but I can tell you that if he had spinal cord injury he wouldn’t have gotten up like that… CPR means he could either not breathe on his own or his heart had stopped …. or both…

Didn’t know the name of it but it happens more in kids baseball from getting hit in the chest at the exact wrong time and causes cardiac arrest. It comes up in coaches clinics before the season. It’s very rare but it does happen.

Absolutely a possibility. But with the size of these guys combined with their muscle mass as well as their shoulder pads. It seems like it would take an incredibly hard impact. This did not appear to be one. pic.twitter.com/kyq6FEg2Rg
