This will help commemorate players’ starting milestones at the MLB level. New York Yankees’ Anthony Volpe will be one among many debutants this year to have that special patch.

In a Tweet, FOX Sports: MLB said, “Starting today, every player making their debut will wear an ‘MLB Debut’ patch on their jersey for their first game! 📷: @MLB”. They shared a picture of what the patch will look like along with the Tweet.

Volpe was the starting shortstop for the Yankees during their Opening Day game, making him the youngest starter since Derek Jeter. His jersey number is confirmed to be #11 and fans are looking forward to his season.
